DIFERENCIAÇÃO SOCIAL E RESPOSTA SINDICAL AS TRANSFORMAÇÕES TECNOLÓGICAS NA AGRICULTURA BRASILEIRA

Resumo

O trabalho apresenta um painel dos processos de diferenciação social surgidos na agricultura brasileira em conseqüência da modernização tecnológica. Mostra como esses processos geraram novos agentes produtivos, recriaram outros e mantiveram alguns em estado de inércia. Analisa as percepções dos mesmos com relação, principalmente, ao uso de novos insumos e máquinas agrícolas, e como estão respondendo às implicações dessa modernização, destacando-se as reivindicações de sua representação sindical. O painel é traçado com base em estudos de caso realizados por projeto de pesquisa conduzido no Departamento de Sociologia da UnB ao longo de dois anos, e que tratava das relações entre o papel do Estado como fomentador da modernização agrícola e das conseqüências para os agentes sociais envolvidos.

SOCIAL DIFFERENTIATION AND UNION RESPONSE TO THE TECHNOLOGICAL: CHANGES IN BRAZILIAN AGRICULTURE

Abstract
This paper presents a pannel of the processes of social differention which emerged in Brazilian agriculture as a result of the recent technological modernization. It shows how the processes generated new productive agents, recreated some and kept others in a inertial state. It also analyses the perceptions of those agents mainly in relation to the use of new inputs and agricultural machinery and how they are responding to the implications of this modernization by emphasizing the demands of their trade unions. The pannel is based upon case studies conducted at the Department of Sociology of the University of Brasília over the period of two years. These case studies dealt with the relationships between the role of the State and its policies for the agricultural sector and the consequences for the in-volved social agents.
