MUDANÇAS TÉCNICAS NA AGRICULTURA MEDIEVAL E O PROCESSO DE TRANSIÇÃO PARA O CAPITALISMO

Resumo

Trata o presente ensaio de proceder a uma reconstrução da trajetória das mudanças técnicas na agricultura camponesa medieval e seu impacto na restauração das cidades, utilizando como fonte a historiografia econômica e a historiografia das ciências agrárias. Com efeito, o que se pretende é chamar a atenção para o papel desempenhado pela agricultura de base familiar no abastecimento das populações urbanizadas e no estímulo às atividades econômicas que expandiram o mercantilismo e abriram caminho para a Revolução Industrial.

AND TRANSITION PROCESS TO CAPITALISM
ABSTRACT
The present paper aims at reconstructing the trajectory of technical change in medieval peasant agriculture and its impact on restoring towns, based on economic historiography and on the history of the agrarian sciences. In effect, an attempt is made to focus attention on the role played by family-based agriculture in food supply of urbanized population and on the stimulation of economic activities which expanded merchantilism and opened the way to the Industrial Revolution.
