BIOTECNOLOGIA MOLECULAR E NOVO PADRÃO DE FINANCIAMENTO: POSSIBILIDADES PARA PESQUISA DA FUSARIOSE DA PIMENTA-DO-REINO

Resumo

O trabalho aborda a importância da pipericultura na economia agrícola do Estado do Pará, as pesquisas agronômicas que buscam o controle da fusariose da pimenta-do-reino e as limitações enfrentadas pelo melhoramento genético clássico, para o controle dessa enfermidade. São apresentadas as pesquisas em andamento que utilizam a moderna biotecnologia em apoio ao melhoramento clássico. É proposto um novo padrão de financiamento que possibilite a ampliação do uso desses novos métodos de pesquisa.

ABSTRACT
This article describes the importance of the Piper nigrum crop in the rural economy of the State of Pará, the agronomic researches that look for the control of the Piper nigrum fusariose, and the difficulties of the usual improvement for its control. Among the current on going researches there are cases where tradicional and new methodologies are combined. A new model of financing that help the enlargement new methods of research is proposed.
