POTENCIAL AGRÍCOLA DOS SOLOS E DINÂMICAS TERRITORIAIS DA AMAZÔNIA OCIDENTAL BRASILEIRA

Resumo

O objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar o potencial agrícola dos solos aliado às dinâmicas territoriais que se configuram no sul de Rondônia. Com a análise edáfica, percebe-se que a região possui solos que devem ser preservados e outros que podem ser cultivados com pastagens e/ou com grãos. Com uma análise sociológica, nota-se que a região passou por uma frente de expansão e atualmente passa pela modernização trazida pelo capital. Como não há mais, nessa região, um “vazio”, pode ser que esta se torne cenário de novos conflitos. Percebe-se que a ocupação da Amazônia se dá visando-se à ocupação do território, e não ao uso racional do solo. Portanto, análises pedológicas isoladas de fatores socioeconômicos não atendem às necessidades reais da sociedade; assim, somente se recorrerá a esses dados quando os problemas ambientais forem realidade, e não para planejamento da ocupação e uso do solo.

AGRICULTURAL POTENTIAL OF SOILS AND TERRITORIAL DYNAMICS OF THE WESTERN BRAZILIAN AMAZON 

ABSTRACT

The aim of this study was to analyze the agricultural potential of soils combined with the territorial dynamics that take place in southern state of Rondônia, Brazil. Through an edaphic analysis, it was found that, in that area, there are soils that must be preserved and soils that can be cultivated with pastures and/or grains. Using a sociological analysis, it was noted that the area has undergone an expansion front and currently undergoes modernization brought by capital. Since there is no more an “empty” space in this area, it may be that it will become the scene of new conflicts. It is noticed that the occupation of the Amazon happens by aiming at occupation of the territory, and not by aiming at rational land use. Therefore, isolated pedological analyses of socioeconomic factors do not meet the real needs of society; thus, people will only resort to such data when environmental problems become reality, and not for planning of occupation and land use.
